Baby, it's cold outside

The Brins have had an exciting December so far. After weeks of false starts, Aaron started crawling, and it's now a whole new world for him -- and for mom and dad! He's also been pulling himself up and loves standing. We traveled to New York for Ruby Fefferman's baby naming and had lots of fun seeing friends (and introducing Aaron to his future wife.) We survived our first big snowfall of the year -- and are still digging ourselves out! Last but not least, Aaron celebrated his first Hanukkah and kicked off the holiday season at his daycare with a holiday concert. Pics here.

Halloween!
Our little bumble bee had a blast during his first Halloween (although the candy will have to wait until next year.) We went to Boo at the Zoo with friends and also attended a Halloween party. Aaron had a great time participating in the Halloween parade at his day care. As an added bonus, we enjoyed a visit from Aunt Inie and Cousin Gwen over the weekend as well.

October fun
Fall has officially arrived, and we have been thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Katie and Lory spent their first weekend sans Aaron, traveling to Montreal to celebrate their 5th (!) wedding anniversary. We had a blast when Katie's college friends came to DC for a mini-Michigan reunion. Aaron has been getting more and more mobile -- his favorite new trick is log-rolling from one side of the room to the other -- and eating lots of finger foods. Pictures here.

Months 6 - 7
The past month has been an eventful one for the Brins. Aaron celebrated his six month birthday, and Katie and Lory marveled at how quickly half a year has gone by.
Katie went back to work in early September, and although Aaron misses his mom (hopefully!!), he loves his new daycare. We went to Chicago to celebrate as cousin Mat renewed his wedding vows with his lovely wife, Megan. Also, Aaron celebrated his first Rosh Hashanah with friends and family. Aaron is growing by leaps and bounds!

Avocado lover
Aaron has been eating lots of new foods lately. Pears and bananas are some of his favorites, but one food he is not fond of is avocado. See the video below. Maybe he just needs some tortilla chips....?

Vacation in Michigan
Aaron had a wonderful time at his grandma and grandpa's house in northern Michigan this summer. He spent almost a month there with his mom, and dad joined for the last 10 days. We went on hikes, swam in the lake and spent lots of quality time with family. Aaron also enjoyed a number of firsts, including his first roll-over and his first solid food -- rice cereal, delicious!!
Pics of our adventures are here.
This is what summer is all about.

Summer lovin'

Aaron has been having a blast this summer. We were up in the Berkshires for the Fourth of July visiting Mimi and Poppa and seeing friends. Aaron lent a hand helping Mimi recover from her knee surgery. We also saw lots of friends and family at Uncle Ben's 30th birthday soiree. Aaron has been doing a lot of hanging out this summer and even went for his first swim -- he was a big fan of the water!

Aaron takes Manhattan
The Brins spent a fabulous weekend visiting friends in NYC and showing Aaron his parents' former haunts. We celebrated Lory's first Father's Day with Grandma and Grandpa in DC, and it was wonderful to have three generations of Race-Brins together for the occasion. Also, Aaron celebrated his four month birthday last weekend. It's amazing how much our little guy has grown.

Friends and family
We've spent a busy few weeks hanging out with friends and family. Aunt Liz came to visit from California, and Mimi, Poppa and Murray stopped in DC for the weekend on their way to the Berkshires. Aaron (and his parents) had a great time seeing everyone -- pictures are here.
Aaron also saw his friends Sam & Charlie Penn and Abbie Litonjua at a barbecue last weekend. Such a social butterfly!

Weeks seven through ten
Aaron has been very social lately, hanging out with his friends Charlie Penn, Abbie Litonjua, Henry Clark and many others. He has been a smiling machine and loves to spend time on his activity mat and staring at his hands. Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

Weeks four through six
Aaron has a busy last few weeks. He has met many friends out for lunch and took his first trip to the zoo. An avid basketball fan, he cheered on Michigan as the team made it to the second round of the tournament and also watched the Final Four. (All this basketball must have inspired Aaron to start reaching for his toys.) He celebrated his first Passover with family and friends. The latest development is Aaron's burgeoning ability to smile after much cajoling from mom. Here is a video of him showing off this new skill -- pardon the annoying baby talk.

Aaron at four weeks
Aaron is growing by leaps and bounds (as well as losing his hair at an alarmingly rapid rate!) Here are some pictures of him at one month. Also, some additional pictures from early march, including his first bath and first walk. Lots of firsts!

Aaron's second week
Aaron had an eventful second week. His bris was on Friday, March 6th, and Aaron spent the weekend meeting many family and friends. He is growing like a weed and is cuter every day! (Click on the hyperlinks to see more pictures.)

Welcome to the Brin Family blog!

We've created this blog to document our growing family. Aaron Race Brin was born on Friday, February 27th at 5:24 am. He weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds, 8.5 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. We are so thrilled to welcome Aaron into the world!
Here is Aaron a few hours after he was born -- alert from the start! -- and some additional pictures from the hospital.
